Lighter components for optimum handling

The magnesium die-cast engine casing and stainless steel muffler are very robust. The MS 261 C-M also features weight-reduced components, such as a new cylinder. Felling, pruning and delimbing jobs will be even easier.

Compact, ergonomic design

This highly manoeuvrable chain saw with a solid casing has smooth surfaces, round edges and streamlined dimensions. The ergonomic handle design makes the saw comfortable to use in any working position. It also has a slimmed-down sprocket cover and optimised bumper spike. Sawing stability is increased, making the chain saw even more comfortable to guide along the trunk.

Reduced vibration makes work less tiring

The MS 261 C-M runs noticeably smoother. This is thanks to the precisely tailored anti-vibration system. Integrated buffer zones minimize the transfer of engine and saw chain vibrations to the front and rear handles. As a result, you expend much less energy while working.

Optimal engine performance

The STIHL M-Tronic™ electronic engine management regulates the ignition timing and fuel metering in all operating conditions, taking into account external conditions such as temperature, altitude and fuel quality. It consistently ensures optimum engine performance, constant maximum engine speed and very good acceleration. The system precisely calculates the amount of fuel needed and supplies it on demand. No manual carburetor adjustment is necessary with STIHL M-Tronic™. The engine management system also saves the settings from the last time of use. So when external conditions are the same, full engine performance is at your disposal immediately after you restart. You save time and can work faster.

Quick and easy to start

With STIHL M-Tronic™, there is only one start position on the Master Control Lever™, ensuring that fuel flows in the exact amount required. You can run the saw at full speed right away, even after a cold start. The Master Control Lever™ immediately moves back into the operating position thanks to the stop button function. This allows a warm machine to be restarted immediately.

Low-maintenance filter with lots of staying power

The long-life air filter system with air routing makes the MS 261 C-M impress with its particularly long filter service life. The polyethylene (PET) HD2 filter keeps fine dust away from the engine, greatly extending the service life.

No more bar nuts

Nuts can no longer be lost when changing the cutting attachment as each one is individually connected to the sprocket cover.

Side-mounted chain tensioning makes it easy to tension the chain safely.

Tool-free refuelling

Special caps allow the tank to be opened and closed simply and without tools.

Low chain lubricant consumption

Compared to conventional bars without Ematic™, the STIHL Ematic™ system reduces the consumption of chain lubricant by up to 50%, depending on the type of wood and the cutting attachment used. The system comprises a STIHL Ematic™ or Ematic™ S guide bar, a STIHL OILOMATIC^® saw chain and a variable-flow oil pump. As a result, virtually every drop of chain lubricant is delivered to exactly the right spot.
